Nike‘s latest colorway of the Kobe X is inspired by yet another of Byrant’s numerous injuries. This one dates back to the Mamba’s senior year in high school, when he was forced to wear a mask after he broke his nose diving for a ball. In his first game wearing the mask, Kobe went 4-for-14 in the first half, leading him to toss the protective shield in the trash. He would go on to play though the pain, ending the night with 39 points in an overtime win that would take his team to state. As for the shoe itself, the design features a grey backdrop with orange accents throughout, and a translucent sole unit that adds a distinctive finishing touch. The Nike Kobe X “Pain” drops this Thursday.
