Audi has taken the wraps off the upcoming S8 Plus, representing the most powerful iteration of the series to date. The full-size performance sedan clearly has Mercedes-AMG in its sights, packing 605 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque (553 lb-ft with overboost). Underneath the hood is the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 found in the standard S8, though it’s been retuned to deliver those enhanced numbers. The Audi Space Frame also helps, featuring a body made almost entirely out of lightweight aluminum to weigh in at a svelte 509 lbs. Additional details include an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, Quattro all-wheel-drive with sport differential, adaptive air suspension, sports-tuned steering and exclusive 21-inch wheels. The new Audi S8 Plus will launch at the end of November in Germany; no word to date on U.S. availability.
