Although it's a bit far off, Smart is already reading some new toys for summer 2016, lining up their ForTrwo Cabrio to debut at September's Frankfurt Auto Show. The third-generation Smart ForTwo just recently hit the market, but this Cabrio version features what Smart calls a Tritop, a roof design a bit like that of Fiat, enabling three different configurations: completely closed, slid open, or completely folded away. The roof can be operated on the move and takes only 12 seconds to close and open automatically. Buyers will also notice four new trim levels from Pure (base) to Proxy, a range of new comfort and safety features, and the brand's own advanced electronic driver aids, infotainment systems, and collision warning system. Otherwise, the powertrain matches that of the hard-top version, delivering three-cylinders and over 100 lb-ft of torque. All together, the Smart ForTwo Cabrio should provide opportunity to have a little fun this time next year.
