The Apple iPad Pro Delivers a 12.9-inch Retina Display

As Apple CEO Tim Cook puts it, "Today we have the biggest news in iPad since the iPad." A tall order to say the least, it will be up to the users to decide if the new Apple iPad Pro has delivered the goods. Either way, it's definitely the biggest iPad yet, offering all the iPad Air 2 has with just a little extra of everything - most notably a 12.9-inch display - except for its depth (6.9mm) and weight (1.57 lbs). The larger display was designed by Apple to allow for even more multi-tasking within iOS 9, allowing for side-by-side apps and a "full-size" on-screen keyboard. Apple has also decided to include four speakers up front, upgrade the camera to an 8-megapixel iSight, and to power the device with their latest A9X, with double the memory bandwidth and performance. So what is all this innovation going to cost you? The Apple iPad Pro will start at $799 for the 32GB WiFi model up to $1,079 for the LTE 128 GB model.

But wait - there's more! You may have also noticed the stylus, called Pencil, which is an optional accessory that also works on previous iPads, capable of picking up force, tilt, and weight for specific control and annotation. There's also a new "Smart Keyboard" case that turns the iPad Pro into a Surface-like tablet via a new port called the "Smart Connector." Rounding out the fan fare, Cook was joined onstage by Microsoft Office to demonstrate just how well the device works with the business staple. The one thing we don't know is what date in November all of this will release. Stay tuned for that.
