This year looks to be a turning point in electric drive vehicles with the Porsche Mission E and now the Audi E-tron Quattro Concept sending shock waves through the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Unlike the 600HP Porsche, however, the Audi concept previews a future production electric SUV that will be ready for a market launch in 2018, packed with three electric motors; one for the front axle and two for the rear. Combined, total output comes at 435HP, which can be amped up to 503HP and 590lb-ft of torque in a boost mode, powerful enough to hit 62mph in 4.6 seconds. The lithium-ion battery in the floor provides a range of 311 miles and can be charged in about 50 minutes. Inside, the tech continues with Audi's virtual cockpit with a fully-digital instrument cluster, two touch displays, and a new media and nav management system. From here, Audi will present an all-electric, luxury-class sport SUV for production in early 2018.
