Just in time for his training camp and the tip off of your season, Nike and Lebron James have just released the new LEBRON 13. Nike and James hosted a launch event in Akron on Sunday to unveil the latest in the line of signature shoes - which still reigns as the best-selling signature basketball shoe of any active player - touting a sock-like feel and a lock-down fit that can handle LeBron's game. As also seen in our launch preview, the shoe also pays homage to Akron, reflecting James' hometown roots in its colorway and graphics. The video after the jump dives deeper into these themes with the launch event itself also serving as an announcement of something bigger for Akron, with poet Lemon Anderson giving a backdrop to the reveal of not just the shoe, but a new scholarship program between Akron Public Schools and the University of Akron, which the LeBron Family Foundation will support with its own mentorship program. Learn more about not just the new LEBRON 13, but also the community James holds so close after the jump.
