With the Microsoft Surface joined by new competitors in the form of Apple's iPad Pro and Google's Pixel C, the original tablet-laptop hybrid gets an update to stake its claim in a suddenly crowded field. There's a fingerprint sensor and Cortana integration, along with a 12.3-inch display housed in a device that has the same dimensions as its 12-inch predecessor. It's protected behind Gorilla Glass that's just 0.4mm thick, making it the thinnest glass ever used on a tablet. There's also a new Surface Pen, boasting 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity and all-year battery life. It attaches magnetically to the side ofwhen not in use. In terms of specs, significant upgrades include a new G5 chipset that's said to be 50% faster than a Macbook Air and 30% faster than a Surface Pro 3. It's joined by 16GB of RAM and 1TB of solid-state storage, as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera. Starting at $899, the Surface Pro 4 is available to preorder here, with delivery set for October 26th.
