Toyota's Le Mans Car Makes Breakfast by Braking

Toyota's GAZOO Racing has unveiled a new video, "Toyota Barista," that nicely conveys the amount of power that can be developed from regenerative braking, aka the car's Kinetic Energy Recovery System. In the case of Toyota's TS040 Hybrid LMP1, the race car is capable of generating 6,000,000 joules of energy for each lap around the Le Mans circuit. It's enough to power a roomful of appliances and consequently make breakfast -- comprising one cup of coffee, a half-slice of toast and one-third of a sunny-side up fried egg -- for 171 guests.
