Louis Vuitton looks to its historic trunks for inspiration in the design of its new LV Fifty Five watch. Two metal plaques engraved with the Louis Vuitton name are riveted around the dial rim as an homage to the lock plates on the brand's vintage trunks. The V-shaped markers at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, along with the entwined LV at 12 o'clock, are also clear reference to the Louis Vuitton heritage. And finally, the 41mm stainless steel case has an engraved winding crown made to resemble the head of a trunk rivets. The movement is a self-winding ETA 2893 with a 42-hour power reserve. Two additional sizes, each sporting a different movement, will also be available: a 31mm feminine model housing a quartz ETA caliber, and a 36mm unisex model with an automatic mechanical ETA 2892. Expect a January 2016 launch.
