Some would say that a Ford Mustang rolling off the production line is a work of art in itself, but five French designers have taken the concept to the next level with their latest project. Curated by Ford and communications firm L'Ecurie, five multi-media creatives applied their craft - ranging from tattoo artists to songwriters and fashion designers - and vision to the all-American roadster, including Mathieu César, L’Encrerie, Alexandre Vauthier, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance and Thomas Lélu. Each artist started with a clean canvas before then draping their own unique reinterpretations on to the muscle car, transforming it into a drivable work of art. The end result includes a full-body graphic depicting the muscle tissue of a horse in Duchaufour-Lawrance's "the horse within," the award-winning "dazzle" by Grosset, and a tattoo-like design that creeps to all edges of the Mustang's body. To launch the project, Ford, designboom, and L'Ecurie co-hosted an event inviting the public to capture their own interpretation of the spirit of the Ford Mustangs for themselves, an effort that continues online via Instagram at #LECURIEFORDMUSTANG.
