PUMA Introduces the Self-Lacing Autodisc
Last month saw Nike announcing the debut of a self-lacing Nike Mag in 2016, and while PUMA doesn’t have the benefit of a Back to the Future tie-in, the German sportswear brand has itself announced an autonomous lacing shoe, the PUMA Autodisc. The sleek silhouette makes use of PUMA’s patented Disc system, featuring a servo motor and an integrated cable system designed for custom support throughout the foam and mesh build. It’s all activated with the simple push of a button. While a prototype utilizes a micro USB cable and on-board battery, the production version will pack a charging plate, obviating the need to plug in to a power source. Look for the shoe to arrive sometime in 2016.
