Nike's Black History Month themed releases originally began in 2005 with single Nike Air Force 1. Cut to 2016, in which the BHM collection spans a total of 28 pieces, featuring a Pan African-inspired color palette and custom geometric motifs. They run through apparel and footwear covering tennis, basketball, football, running, Nike iD and Jordan Brand, all set to release in January to mid-February.
Look for Nike Sportswear releases that include the Nike Air Force 1, Nike Air Footscape Magista and Nike Roshe One (including an additional BHM-themed Roshe One Nike iD), as well as Nike Basketball footwear silhouettes that comprise the LeBron 13, KD8, Kyrie 2 and Kobe 11. (Signature models from Lebron, Kyrie and KD will also be offered in youth sizes.) Other category launches include the NikeCourt Flare footwear from Nike Tennis; Streak LT 3 footwear from Running, and the Air Jordan 1 Nouveau and girls' AJ1 High from Jordan Brand. A BHM-themed Magista Obra FG boot and Jordan Spike 40 follow in February. Matching BHM apparel comprise hoodies, T-shirts and shorts.
Finally, the Nike's Black History Month collection will provide financial support to Nike's Ever Higher Fund, created to bring mentorship and sport -- and all of its benefits -- to African-American youth.
