As movie-goers settled in for a screening of 13 Hours, they were treated to a surprise trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane, produced by Bad Robot Productions. Described as a “blood relative” to 2008’s Cloverfield by J.J. Abrams (who owns Bad Robot), the film stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher, Jr in what appears to be a long-awaited, yet not completely certain sequel to the post-apocalyptic movie that ended with a U.S. military-led nuclear attack to kill an alien monster. Based on the trailer, the film looks to be set in a basement where Goodman is either protecting or holding Winstead and Gallagher away from what is left outside, with the film produced not with the “found footage” style from the original. How long since Cloverfield does the film pick up, where is it based, and just what’s outside? We won’t have to wait long to find out; 10 Cloverfield Lane hits theaters on March 11, 2016.
