adidas continues their Black History Month footwear collection with a celebration of track and field star Jesse Owens, introducing a special take on the D Rose 6, the D Lillard 2, and the Crazylight Boost 2.5. Worn by James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Derrick Rose during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day games and in select games throughout February, each of the models features cream tones, dark brown contrasts, and gold accents like Owens’ 733 bib number from his May 25, 1935 three-world record runs at the Big Ten Championships. Owens accomplished his records with hand-crafted spikes designed by founder Adi Dassler, initiating a bond between the brand and the Owens’ family that continues today in the spirit of Jesse’s accomplishments. The D Rose 6 also features gold star accents to mark the four medals earned by Owens during the Olympics, while the D Dillard 2 honors his uniform with mesh paneling, and the Crazylight Boost 2.5 has a mix of the genuine leather from his spikes. The D Rose 6 ($140) and D Lillard 2 ($105) roll out in January at adidas.com.
