The development of Nike's new LunarEpic Flyknit began over 18 months ago, with designers looking to the Nike Magista football boot for inspiration. Step one was a lightweight, breathable one-piece Nike Flyknit upper, featuring different densities directly on the knit for a precise fit. A revolutionary mid-height delivers lockdown, along with Nike Flywire for added strength and a close, dynamic fit. A new dual-injection midsole employs two foam pieces heat fused together, features traditional Lunarlon construction and an IU foam carrier with soft IP core. Cushioning and targeted flex comes courtesy of laser siping on the side of the midsole, while laser-siped geometric pistons on the rubber-free outsole enable pointed compression for an exceptional ride. The LunarEpic Flyknit is available starting today at, offered in a total of nine introductory colorways. An exclusive colorway will also be available at NikeLab retail locations.
