As Nike explains, the beautiful game isn't always played in beautiful conditions. Mud is a common impediment, as it clogs down cleats, adding unnecessary weight and preventing sure footing. As revealed yesterday during the 2016 Nike Innovation event, Nike's Anti-Clog Traction prevents mud from accumulating on the sole plate of Nike's football boots. Developed over the course of two years, the new sole plates feature an adaptive polymer that becomes compliant when exposed to water, creating a lubricious layer that prevents mud from sticking. Nike Anti-Clog Traction will initially be available on special versions of the current Tiempo, Magista and Hypervenom models, all of which will carry the Nike Anti-Clog Traction hexagon mark on the heel. They'll be available in limited quantities via the Nike Football App on April 15.
