Nike Free technology has been around for over a decade now, and the Swoosh is building on the groundbreaking technology to unveil key new additions to the Free footwear family. Each silhouette features a progressive geometric auxetic midsole, engineered to maximize natural motion to generate strength. Specifically, designers drew upon new studies showing how the foot expands and contracts through impact and liftoff. This is mimicked by the splaying auxetic midsole, which accommodates the dual-plane expansion in foot size, approximating one size in length and two sizes in width that occurs through the foot strike. The multi-directional outsole flexibility, meanwhile, reacts to the changing foot shape, whether an athlete is moving linearly through a run or or multi-directionally in training.
