Freshness Grid: Summer Prints
Staying cool this summer doesn't mean blending in. In our latest installment of the Freshness Grid, we explore an eye-catching trend doesn't show any signs of letting up: namely, prints, which are ubiquitous enough that they appear this season in a range of apparel, accessories and footwear. Our only advice is that you mix and match your prints with plenty of solids. Just remember, contrast is key.
Blue Blue Japan Mt Fuji Printed Linen Shirt ($255)
Made with ultra-breathable linen and finished in natural indigo dye, this relaxed shirt is the embodiment of retro-cool, featuring premium details like an all-over swaying bamboo motif and mother-of-pearl buttons
Futura x Casio G-Shock GD-X6900FTR-1ER ($219)
All prints aren't created equal. This limited-edition G-Shock GD-X6900 model bears the atomic designs of the legendary Futura, offering wearable art on a timepiece that can withstand just about anything you can throw at it.
Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses ($165)
Ray-Ban combines a colorful print with its iconic Original Wayfarer design. The result is a new, engaging look for an old standby.
Freemans Sporting Club Hawaiian-Print Shorts ($200)
In the event you want to go bold, save the large prints for shorts like these. Manufactured locally in New York City and adorned with a hibiscus-flower print, the shorts breezily evoke the endless summer.
Lanvin Footstep Design Backpack ($1,075)
A minimalist carryall with premium calf leather detailing, this backpack from Lanvin features a footstep design on the cotton shell. The print reflects what you'll want to do with the backpack -- slip it over your back and hit the road.
Converse Deck Star '67 ($89)
Slip-on sneakers are a must during the summer months. Keep it simple with a canvas and rubber build, with a micro-floral print that adds a nicely discreet flourish.
Vans Hula Strapback 5-Panel Hat
($29)
Palm trees are something of a trend this season. Vans' take on the design is supplemented with a dancing hula girl for added retro charm.
Herschel Supply Hank Wallet ($34.99)
You don't want to carry around a bulky leather billfold during the dog days. Opt for a canvas wallet with a leafy print like this one, which is durable enough to survive the occasional drop in the sand.
Carhartt WIP Gilbert Socks ($18)
Socks are definitely optional in the summer. But during the work week, you can wear these with your office uniform to offer a subtle reminder that the weekend is just around the corner.
