In rolling out a first look at N.HOOLYWOOD's Spring 2017 collection, Daisuke Obana unveiled a seafaring sensibility. Backstage at his NYFW show, the designer recalled a visit to a deep-sea aquarium in Japan, as well as a museum of 1940s copper diving suits in Miami. Copper accents would reveal themselves on the runway, along with neoprene and assorted technical fabrics used on bomber jackets, hoodies and color-blocked trousers, all evocative of wetsuits that had evolved for use on dry land. Elsewhere, oversized printed cotton shirts and wide-leg pants offered a relaxed, maritime vibe, while a utilitarian aesthetic came through from rugged knits and chambray tops and bottoms. Sneakers and sandals were constructed from technical materials, made in collaboration with Reebok, which joined additional joint ventures alongside Porter and Lee Jeans. .
