For the average Twitter user, the process for obtaining a verified account has always been a bit of mystery. We just knew that the ticket for admission was that you had to be famous or important. That's all set to change, as Twitter announced today the company has installed an online application process for all users to request verified status. So how do you go about applying for the coveted blue check mark? First you'll need a verified phone number, email address, profile photo and website, and your account set to public. Twitter currently has around 320 million monthly users, 187,000 of which are currently verified, or "determined to be of public interest."
