Mergers and acquisitions are fairly standard occurrences in Silicon Valley, but Apple's latest move is raising eyebrows: the Cupertino behemoth is said to be in talks to purchase McLaren, the British automaker famous for its luxury supercars and Formula One race cars. The news come from the Financial Times, who notes that Apple has been attempting to develop its own car for some time now, and the transaction could either be a major investment or an outright purchase. For its part, McLaren has denied the reporting, releasing a terse one-line statement that reads, “We can confirm that McLaren is not in discussion with Apple in respect of any potential investment." Tim Bradshaw, one of the reporters responsible for the FT piece, asserts that the publication is standing by its original story. Stay tuned.
