On the heels of yesterday's tweet to Michael J. Fox, Nike has released the details surrounding the launch of the 2016 Nike Mag. We'll get right into the pertinent info: the space-age shoe will only be available to residents of the U.S. and Canada via raffle -- specifically, through a $10 lottery ticket, the proceeds of which will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, supporting the fight against Parkinson's disease. There are only 89 pairs that were made, but there's no limit to the number of lottery tickets you can purchase. You can buy yours through the Nike Plus App until October 11th, and winners will be notified on October 17th.
Additionally, Nike will conduct live auctions for one pair of the Mag at three locations: Hong Kong on October 11; London on October 14 and 17; and New York on November 12 at The Michael J. Fox Foundation's benefit gala, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's."
Finally, you can enter the draw free of charge. Per Nike's F.A.Q. page: "You can enter The Draw without a donation by submitting an official entry, linked within the official rules, and mailing it to RallyUp for verification. Entries must be postmarked no later than October 11, 2016 and received October 14, 2016. You may mail-in only once for any particular shoe size drawing and you will receive entries equal to the average number of entries received by those who make donations for the shoe size drawing you specified. If you wish to enter additional drawings for different shoe sizes, you must send a separate mailer for each additional drawing. If the average number of entries by donation is not a whole number, your average will be rounded up to the next whole number."
The official entry form can be downloaded here.
Keep in mind, the shoe is available only in sizes 7, 9, 11, and 13. If you're in between sizes, Nike recommends sizing up.
If you haven't already done so, download the Nike+ App today, purchase your tix and good luck!
