Philadelphia's UBIQ has teamed up with Stone Island to present one of the brand's first retail partnerships within the U.S. The joint venture takes the form of a special in-store installation, dubbed "Stone Island: A Presentation of Garment Dyed Expertise." The exhibit explores the brand's nearly 35-year history in experimenting with color, fiber and textiles, along with the production methods employed to treat materials never before used in the apparel industry.
Visitors can expect an exhibition featuring 48 unique color palettes, sourced from Stone Island's archive of more than 60,000 different recipes of dyes. Ranging from Verde Chiaro to Grigio Perla, each color block reveals the brand's mastery of garment dyed fabrics, and how each color is absorbed and the way it reacts differently on the finished items. There are also four unique garment dyed jackets on display, suspended in space and illuminated by LED light mannequins, accompanied by iPad displays with headsets that provide commentary from Stone Island Creative Director Carlo Rivetti.
The exhibition is open now and will run through Monday, October 31st. A special launch event takes place this Friday, October 7, from 6 to 9 pm.
