Today finds Chelsea Football Club announcing a new long-term deal with Nike, which sees the Swoosh replacing adidas as the official kit supplier, beginning with the 2017/18 season. It's believed that the partnership is worth an estimated £60m a season for the next 15 years, which means Chelsea will ultimately receive £900m from the brand, or around $1 billion USD. The Nike deal surpasses Chelsea's previous deal with adidas, worth £30m a season. (It's still dwarfed by the Real Madrid partnership with adidas, worth around £106m every season for 10 years.)
"This is an incredibly exciting and important deal for the club," said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. "Like Chelsea, Nike is known around the world for its excellence and innovation and we look forward to working together in what is sure to be a successful partnership."
