Inside the locker room of the championship New York Mets team from 1986, there was plenty of team strife, ultimately leading to rampant discord and drug and alcohol abuse. Two of the most polarizing members of the team, Dwight "Doc" Gooden and Darryl Strawberry, were profiled in a Sports Illustrated article entitled "The Dead End Kids." That's the narrative that Renarts took as inspiration for its new collaboration with Reebok on the LX8500 silhouette. The shoe's blue suede toe reflects the Met's team colors, but the black leather that covers the rest of the shoe is a nod to the darkness enveloped the team like a black cloud. Subtle orange accents and blue 3M piping complete the look. Retailing for $130, the Renarts x Reebok Classic LX8500 "Dead End Kids" launches in-store at 7 pm EDT on October 18, followed by an online release at beginning 11 am EDT on October 22.
