Asserting that self-driving vehicles "will play a crucial role in improving transportation safety and accelerating the world's transition to a sustainable future," Tesla has announced that all cars built in its factory -- including the Model 3 -- will now have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability. The technology includes eight surround cameras providing 360 degree visibility and a 250-meter range, twelve updated ultrasonic sensors and a forward-facing radar with enhanced processing. An onboard computer, packing 40 times more computing power than the previous-gen Tesla, is capable of processing the surfeit of data.
