Dodge claims that its new Challenger SRT Demon is the most powerful muscle car ever made, and the numbers seem to support the claim: up to 840 HP and 770 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a 6.2-liter Hemi Demon V8 engine, resulting in 0 to 60 mph sprint time of just 2.3 seconds. Additionally, the Demon can complete a quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds, and it holds the Guinness World Record as the first ever production car to achieve a wheelie. Another first for a production car is the 1.8 g of acceleration, rated as the highest of any production car. The car is also equipped with the first ever liquid-to-air charge air cooler system on a production vehicle, able to drop intake temperature by 45 degrees. Updated rear-gearing enhances torque, a massive 2.7-liter supercharger offers 14.5 pounds of boost, and the system can switch between racing gas and traditional pump fuel.
Production of the Challenger SRT Demon commences this summer, with deliveries expected to begin this fall.
