Michael Jordan's Flight Suit looms large this season for his namesake label. MJ's iconic workout apparel not only inspires Jordan Brand's Fall 2017 apparel collection, but it also underpins the design of an upcoming spate of Air Jordan 5 colorways. It's fitting, then, that Jordan is examining the origin of the Flight Suit. The history begins with Diane Katz, designer of the suit's first iteration, whose ideas were drawn from her previous work on Nike's tennis line. "I achieved a whole new look by changing fabrics and colors and designing specifically for basketball apparel needs," she remembers. Those fabrics included nylon taffeta and fleece cotton-polyester sweatpants and shorts, juxtaposed with relaxed silhouettes and bold, statement-making colors.
