We're suckers for sneaker designs inspired by compelling stories, and this upcoming Reebok Shaq Attaq is tied to a good one. As the 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team was being assembled, the decision was made to reserve a roster spot for one college athlete. While many believed the honor should have gone to LSU's Shaquille O'Neal, the invitation to join the illustrious Dream Team went to Christian Laettner of Duke instead. The infamous snub is the basis for this new Shaq Attaq colorway, featuring an Olympic red, white and blue colorway -- complete with metallic gold accents -- along with the unmistakable blue and purple neoprene detailing of the Nike Air Flight Huarache, the shoe that Laettner wore as a Blue Devil. A red "X" over the Shaq logo at the heel finishes the look. Stay tuned for word on a release date.
