Back in the summer of 2015, Nike and the NBA issued the announcement that the Swoosh would become the official provider of the league's oncourt apparel beginning with the 2017 - 2018 season. Now, Nike has unveiled the details of the uniforms, built on a refined version of the Nike Aeroswift basketball chassis. Thanks to the use of 3D-body maps on players, the new uniforms have revised back shoulder construction for a vastly improved fit, along with modified hemlines on both the jersey and shorts for a full range of motion. The moisture-removing fabric is made with a combination of Alpha Yarns and recycled polyester, with 20 recycled PET bottles going into each uniform.
The upcoming season will also see the NBA eliminating "Home" and "Road" uniform designations, so that home teams will pick which of their uniforms will be worn at all home games, while visiting teams will choose a contrasting uniform within their own assortment. The Association Edition replaces the home uniform, the Icon Edition replaces the away uniform, and eight NBA teams will also have a Classic Edition, celebrating some of the most iconic designs in league history.
