adidas Unveils First Running Spike With Parley Ocean Plastic
adidas wants to break records while saving the world's oceans
On the heels of last week's unveiling of the adizero Prime Parley, adidas is expanding its usage of Parley Ocean Plastic for the first time to a running spike. The resulting Prime SP Parley features 360-degree Primeknit technology on the upper, fused together with a double layer of Parley knitted yarn -- made with recycled plastic waste -- to reduce stretch while enhancing support and breathability. Underneath, the sole uses a laser welded frame and smaller Nano-plate for reduced weight and elevation. 400m world record holder Wayde Van Niekerk is debuting the shoe at this year's IAAF World Championships.
