It's been roughly six months since Lucasfilm gifted fans with the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and last night we finally got the first full-length trailer for the 8th installment of the beloved sci-fi film franchise. There's a lot to unpack here: we see a battle scene featuring all-new AT-M6 "Gorilla Walkers," Rey training with Luke Skyalker on the planet Ahch-To, Finn locked in combat with Phasma as their surroundings literally go up in flames, and what looks to be Kylo Ren contemplating taking out his mother Leia onboard a seemingly doomed Resistance Starship. And yes, Poe Dameron, BB-8 and Chewbacca are all back again, as well as the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke.
The most dramatic moment in the trailer occurs near the end, when Rey plaintively confesses, "I need someone to show me my place in all this." At that point, the sequence cuts to Kylo Ren, who pauses for a beat before holding out his hand in response.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
