With its new G-SQUAD series, G-Shock enters the fitness tracker space, with six colorways of the GBA-800 model featuring a step tracker and Bluetooth connectivity. The technology involves a 3-axis accelerometer that pairs with G-Shock's Connected smartphone app, allowing users to track and view the daily steps they take and the calories they burn. The data can be displayed through a graph that breaks down the steps taken into five metabolic equivalent (MET) levels, and the app can also graphically display the steps taken and calories burned on a map, meaning the user can trace not only their steps, but the location, time of day and MET level as well. Additionally, the user can also create timed workouts for interval training, a function that can be configured up to 20 sets of five timers.

The introductory models are available now Japan, featuring a selection of six monotone finishes: GBA-800-1A (black), GBA-800-2A (blue), GBA-800-3A (green), GBA-800-7A (white), GBA-800-8A (gray), and GBA-800-9A (yellow).
