Speaking at a party celebrating the opening of China's first Dover Street Market, COMME des GARÇONS CEO Adrian Joffe disclosed to WWD that the brand would be launching a new online brand in July of this year -- a first for the Japanese fashion house. For now, details about the new venture are scarce, with Joffe explicitly stating that "Nobody knows yet, but what I can tell you is it's going to be Internet based." CDG founder Rei Kawakubo is currently designing the site.
The new sub-brand will the 18th addition to the main line, joining the likes of HOMME, PLUS, SHIRT, PLAY and more. Featuring a "simple" collection for both men and women, the online launch of the unnamed brand is to be followed by the opening of six accompanying shops worldwide. Stay tuned.
