The basic concept behind the KD11, Kevin Durant's new signature shoe, began with a comfort quest. The NBA Finals MVP wanted a broken-in feel, one that didn't require the laces to be tied too tight, and it was left to Nike designer Leo Chang to find the technologies that would match what Durant was after. The solution was found in the rubber cups sole that houses both Nike React and Nike Zoom, with the former provides cushioning between court and body, while the latter sits just under the foot to provide response. Atop the foam element, which is taller than what's found in typical basketball shoes, is a version of Nike Flyknit that feels softer and more broken-in. Additionally, the sock and collar are inspired by the Air Sock Racer, a shoe that Durant considers a past favorite.
The Nike KD11 will be available in June and July in the blue Paranoid colorway and the black/white Still KD colorway.
