Get to Know the "Super Material" Known as Nike Flyleather

Sustainability has become paramount among the major sneaker brands, and Nike's commitment to environmental preservation takes the form of Flyleather, a super material made with at least 50% recycled natural leather fiber. In addition to offering a lesser carbon footprint and water reduction, the material has unique fiber characteristics that make it amenable to laser and print embellishments, as well as textural explorations through embossing and other machinations. 

In the future, expect Nike Flyleather to be applied to some of the brand's greatest footwear icons, including the Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 1, through an environmentally responsible process. Check out examples in the gallery below.
