Nike is debuting a new program spearheaded by Nike Sportswear's special projects division. It's called ISPA -- short for Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt -- predicated on improved interactions with the built environment. Says Nathan Jobe, senior footwear creative director for NSW, "We are able to draw from the best of Nike — all the new innovations, like REACT cushioning, and beautiful technical fabrics and materials — to answer for what we saw people were lacking."
The four basic tenets of ISPA are reflected on the first branded product from the program -- the Nike React LW WR Mid ISPA, featuring a deconstructed water-resistant bootie mounted atop Nike React 87 tooling. The shoe's build is an expression of the ISPA philosophy that "any problem can be solved with the materials at hand."
Expect the kicks to launch November 21.
