Freshness Week in Review: Nike x Cav Empt Collection, BAPE x NEIGHBORHOOD and the adidas Originals Nite Jogger
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day this year, unfortunately, fell on Monday and Tuesday respectively, which may have disrupted your weekly routine. To help catch you up with some of the news you (and maybe we) missed this week, here is a review of some of the biggest stories from the end of 2018 into 2019.
RIMOWA + Skyhour Cabin Luggage
Luxury suitcase maker RIMOWA teamed up with travel platform Skyhour for the first-ever experimental suitcase recently. Based off the RIMOWA Original Cabin, the collaborative version unlocks 12 hours from Skyhour to travel coach every month for one year. The suitcase retailed for $6,000 and also came with 12 city stickers from the RIMOWA Sticker Collection, it is currently sold out on rimowa.com.
Nike x Cav Empt Capsule Collection
Nike and Tokyo-based clothing label Cav Empt have collaborated on a capsule collection drawing inspiration from British and Japanese fashion references. Tracksuits are joined by a vest, a cap, a jersey and a pair of digi camo Air Max 95s in this cream and navy-centric collection. The collection will be available tomorrow, January 5 at Cav Empt's Tokyo store and cavempt.com before making a wider release on January 10 at select retailers and on the SNKRS app. The white and navy AM95s will each retail for $200.
Nike SB "Girls Don't Cry"
First seen at last year's event, the Girls Don't Cry x Nike SB will release in 2019. Verdy took to his Instagram account at the top of the year with a simple "2019 @nikesb" caption to make the announcement. The vibrant red upper and outsole are offset with a butterfly tongue patch and Girls Don't Cry logo on its rear panel. Stay tuned for more information and a confirmed release date.
BAPE x NEIGHBORHOOD 2019 Capsule Collaboration
BAPE and NEIGHBORHOOD kicked off 2019 with a massive capsule featuring jackets, hoodies, jeans, sweats, pullovers, T-shirts and caps all adorned in their iconic Ape head and Skull designs. Additionally, the drop also features two collaborative sneakers with adidas Originals on the NHBAPE POD S-3.1 and NHBAPE NMD STLT. Accessories are rounded out with two incense chambers shaped like a SHARK hoodie model and a MEDICOM TOY BE@RBRICK offering in 100%, 400% and 1000% sizes. adidas Originals Nite Jogger
The newest silhouette from adidas Originals is all about hi-vis reflective material. The Nite Jogger sports reflective hits on the Three Stripes, lace holes and heel tab for standing out on your nightly run. It will be available on January 12 on adidas.com for $130.
Apple Wins Smart Fabric Patent
In Mid-December, Apple was granted 37 new patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. One of the patents covered "smart fabric," electronic devices covered in a fabric surface.
