Instagram announced the launch of its in-app checkout function today.
Currently in closed beta, the function is only available for businesses and people in the U.S. as of now, but works pretty easily. On a product page, you'll see a "Checkout on Instagram" button and you tap it to select options such as size and color. You enter your name, email, billing information and shipping address the first time you check out and Instagram stores that information for later use. Notifications about shipping and delivery will be in Instagram as well.
Currently a majority of brands in beta are beauty supply brands like Revolve, ColourPop, Kylie Cosmetics and MAC Cosmetics but brands like adidas Women's, Balmain, Dior, H&M, Nike Training and Nike Women's, Prada, Uniqlo, Warby Parker and Zara are also using the new function.
Instagram promises more brands and a wider launch in the future so stay tuned.
