Nike's Zoom Vaporfly 4% dominated the Boston Marathon in 2017 and promised to make runner's 4% faster. Now, the sneakers has been revamped and its next generation has been introduced as the ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%.
The Swoosh is introducing Vaporweave on the upper, a material lighter than Flyknit which also has less absorbing power to ensure runner's stay dry. In order to alleviate pressure from sensitive parts of the feet, the lacing is offset slightly.
Moving down, there is an added foam pod in the heel to support the Achilles while more ZoomX foam has been added in the midsole for energy return and the offset has been changed from 11mm to 8mm. Finally, custom traction patterns and contoured treads insure better grip and turning respectively. Even with the added foam, the sneaker is still the same weight as its predecessor and maintains a full-length curved carbon fiber plate in the foam.
You can pick up the new Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% on April 25 in London and on April 28 via the NRC app for U.S. NikePlus members.
