With cool temperatures and varying weather patterns, the gear is made to be playable in those exact conditions. The jacket and crew neck are both built to have a pattern that allows for maximum range of motion through the swing and have enough pockets for accessories like balls, tees and gloves. A cotton satin outer finish allows for breathability and weather resistance.
Carlo Rivetti, Stone Island's Chairman and Creative Director had this to say:
"One of the things that has always made me enthusiastic is that those who love sports love Stone Island. Golf particularly fascinates me, because it is a precision game in which concentration and power play a fundamental role on athletic gesture and on performance. Working on garments with Nike Golf gave us the opportunity to create true technical and performing pieces. It is the first time for Stone Island on the field of play, in one of the most noble sports in the world. When we begin to think about garments, fabrics and treatments, one of the milestones that always accompanies us is the search for performance and functionality. Garment dyeing and other finishing treatments exponentially complicate the performance of the fabrics and the work of our pattern makers and tailors, so everything must be painlessly calculated. This is what makes Stone Island’s garments stand up to sports, but above all, this is why sports lovers feel Stone Island is relevant, loved and recognizable."
Golfer Rory McIlroy models the collection and adds "As an athlete, it’s important that my apparel can comfortably handle the conditions of any course at any time. This collection will allow me to be prepared for the unpredictable climate of Northern Ireland but also sport a look that appeals to my personal style."
The Nike x Stone Island golf collection will release globally on July 25. The jacket will be available in grey and blue while the crew neck sweater will come in grey, blue and yellow.
