Nike has unveiled a brand new basketball sneaker, the AlphaDunk, designed for those who have superior leaping abilities.
The AlphaDunk's lineage can be traced to the Hyperdunk line and with re-engineered Zoom Air and Flyknit technology, the features give athletes maximum jumping capabilities and a flexible and strong fit respectively. Design elements like varying Swoosh gradients and patterns as well as words like "LOB" and the Flight logo add additional basketball flavor to the sneakers.
Ross Klein, Senior Creative Design Director for Nike Basketball says that the process started with a study in jump height. "We began to consider what would happen if we bring our most responsive technology, Zoom Air, to the entire forefoot to cover the full motion of a jump, from load to launch. What could it do?" he states.
For those looking to leap to new heights, the AlphaDunk will release on August 9, just in time for the FIBA tournament. For a more relaxed off-court sneaker, check out the upcoming Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low "Dark Powder Blue" designed by Eric Koston.
