Nike has announced the name of its new Sport Research Lab at its World Headquarters campus, named after NBA superstar LeBron James.
The LeBron James Building is part of Nike's WHQ expansion that began back in 2015 and will house the Advanced Innovation team. It's five times larger than the team's current space and facilities will include a full NBA-size basketball court, 200-meter endurance track, 100-meter straightaway and artificial turf training pitch. A 500-foot ramp with a 15.63% incline just outside the building offers athletes and staff additional training grounds.
Slated to open in 2020, LeBron says "it's so surreal. It’s been an honor to be a part of such a great company for the last 18 years. And to know that a building with my name will reside on campus — it’s truly an honor, and I feel truly special."
