Kith Women has teamed up with Barbie for a collaboration to celebrate the brand's 60th anniversary.
To celebrate the monumental occasion, Kith is kicking off the collaboration with an activation in its New York SoHo location. They will host a styling contest on the second floor of the store at the Arsham/Fieg Gallery space between September 21 and September 29. Fans will get the chance to dress up Barbie dolls with 80 custom doll-sized pieces from the Kith Women line by appointment. Fans can take a picture of their doll and enter it into a contest where the winner will have their doll turned into the official Kith x Barbie collaboration in 2020.
The panel of judges for the content include Dianne Garcia, Jackie Kim, Maeve Reilly, Ade Samuel and Ronnie Fieg. Judges select the top six looks but fans will be able to select the final winner via social media voting later on.
"For sixty years, Barbie has been an international pop-culture phenomenon offering girls around the globe a chance to play, tell stories, and, most importantly, to dream. Kith echoes this mindset by presenting an immersive world for its customers by engaging them through a unique retail environment that fosters creativity,” said Ronnie Fieg.
In addition to the styling contest, Kith will host a retrospective exhibition from September 21 to October 2. The first 200 attendees will be gifted limited Kith x Barbie tees. Check out the Barbie dolls below. Kith also celebrated the 35th anniversary of Def Jam with a capsule collection yesterday.
