Details are scarce right now but the collection, officially called YEEZY Gap, is expected to arrive in Gap stores and online by 2021. The partnership will see both respective parties maintain sole ownership of their own brands but YEEZY will receive royalties and equity related to sales achievement if the business grows.
West worked in a Gap store in Chicago growing up and now he will be tasked with developing new lines of elevated basics for men, women and kids at affordable price points, so expect everything to cost less than his current YEEZY collections.
Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand had this to say about the new partnership:
"We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his YEEZY brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership."
Check out the collection preview tweet below from Kanye this morning, with a simple "WESTDAYEVER" caption.
