Further studying The Greek Freak's game, Nike has crafted the all-new Zoom Freak 2 with Giannis' powerful Eurostep in mind. Ross Klein, Senior Creative Director for Nike Basketball made this statement in regards to what the team had to keep in mind for this design:
"What Giannis does in space is directly connected to his body proportions. What’s different about his movements is that he’s causing so much pressure when he hits those steps, like the Eurostep, that we need to help propel him and contain him further near the toe."
To achieve this, Nike used a decoupled outsole featuring a supportive shank in the midsole. They also added a reinforced forefoot outrigger on the lateral side near the pinky toe for gathering a dribble. Zoom Air helps with explosive power in the forefoot and support in the heel.
The all-new Zoom Freak 2 will release on July 25 in North America in a "Naija" colorway which pays homage to Giannis' parents' homeland of Nigeria and the colors of the national football team's kit. A black and white colorway will follow that up on August 7. You can purchase the shoes from SNKRS app and select retailers for $130.
