Stadium Goods and Christie's Original Air: Michael Jordan Game-Worn and Player Exclusive Sneaker Rarities auction ended yesterday and man was it historic. This is the year for record breaking single sneaker sales at auction. Holding the title for only a couple of months, MJ's 1985 game worn and autographed Air Jordan 1 "Chicago" player sample was beaten by an even rarer pair, his 1985 game worn and autographed Air Jordan 1 "Shattered Backboard."

Selling for a final price of $615,000, the sneaker made history as the rest of the lot also performed above expectation. Christie's reports that the total was $931,875 with 82% sold by lot and only two lots not getting a buyer. The auction house also growth to new audiences, as 72% of the bidders were completely new.
