Designed from her home due to COVID-19, Chitose Abe's Spring/Summer 2021 collection for sacai channels the brand's past and some of the designer's favorite styles and pairings.

After a highly successful 2019 collaborating with Nike, sacai and the Swoosh renew their partnership with even more silhouettes and colorways for the new season. A new Blazer silhouette with a cut ankle section, effectively making it a low-top, is teased in white/green as well as white/orange/yellow. The LDWaffle also gets a chunky update on the heel and is seen in colors like purple/blue and tan/blue.

Abe also partnered with American artist Hank Willis Thomas to use the phrase "Love Over Rules" on select pieces. The words were from a voice message of a cousin that passed away suddenly in 2000 and the exhibition donning the same name was dedicated to their memory. Speaking with Vogue, Abe said:

"Even before the coronavirus situation, I believed in this idea. No matter your race, culture, or sexuality, love overrules."
