Officially revealed today, the collaborative effort from the two is called the BYGGLEK collection. The storage system will aim to bring an element of fun to the otherwise mundane storage scene.
Fans can use the various sized containers - one set of three small boxes, two sets of bigger boxes or one set of LEGO bricks - to stack but also build mini stories as they see fit. "In tidying up and reorganizing children’s creative space during playtime, we not only disrupt their play but also their creative expression and growth," IKEA said in it's press release.
Andreas Fredriksson, designer at IKEA of Sweden said the following:
"Where adults often see mess, children see a stimulating creative environment, and BYGGLEK will help bridge the gap between these two views to ensure more creative play in homes around the world."
The BYGGLEK collection will start to officially roll out on October 1 via ikea.com in North America and Europe (except Russia). LEGO recently released a Lamborghini Technic set while IKEA brought The Simpsons living room to life last year.
