Vans has partnered with Chinese rapper Bohan Phoenix as part of their Customs program.

Born in Hubei, China but raised in Massachusetts, the artist struggled to find his identity as a musician until finally, he incorporated both his Asian and American sides. "I think the most important part of hip-hop is self-expression. You have to express yourself. When I began to include Chinese lyrics and Chinese instruments, only then did I create something that belongs to me," he says on his feature.

Drawing inspiration from his hit song JALA (加辣) which means "add heat" or "more spicy," the first sneaker custom by Bohan is a chili graphic Authentic with a red and white theme that features those words. The second sneaker is a Sk8-Hi inspired by the lyrics from his hit song OVERSEAS (海外) and features the lyrics in English and Chinese along the lateral sides.

Both pairs are available now through In related Vans news, the brand recently launched a Chenille Pack.
